macOS Installation
Learn how to install Cliqer on your Mac computer.
Follow these steps to get Cliqer up and running on your Mac:
- Download Cliqer:
- Download the
cliqer.dmgfile from the website.
- Download the
- Mount and Install:
- Open the downloaded
cliqer.dmgfile. - When prompted, drag and drop the Cliqer icon into your Applications folder.
- Open the downloaded
- First Run:
- Run Cliqer from your Applications folder.
- If you see a security prompt ("This is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?"), click Open.
- Note: Releases after v1.1.6 may be notarized by Apple, potentially bypassing this specific warning.
- System Permissions:
Ensure Cliqer has the necessary permissions to control your presentation software:
- Click the Apple logo (top-left) > System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).
- Navigate to Privacy & Security.
- Under Accessibility: Find Cliqer in the list and enable it (toggle the switch ON). You may need to click the lock icon and enter your admin password to make changes.
- Under Automation: Find Cliqer and ensure it (and System Events if listed under Cliqer) is enabled. This is crucial, especially for focused mode in PowerPoint.
- (Optional) Restart:
- If Cliqer doesn't seem to control your presentation software after installation and permission setup:
- Quit Cliqer (Cmd+Q or right-click its Dock icon and select Quit).
- Quit your presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint, Keynote).
- Relaunch Cliqer and then your presentation software.

Troubleshooting macOS Installation
- Permissions Reset: If issues persist, especially with Automation or focused mode:
- Open Terminal (you can find it via Spotlight search).
- Type the command:
tccutil reset All io.cliqer.appand press Enter. - Quit and delete Cliqer from your Applications folder.
- Re-open the downloaded
.dmgand copy Cliqer to the Applications folder again. - Run Cliqer, try to use it in focused mode (e.g., connect with your phone and press a button).
- Accept/Enable any system prompts related to Accessibility or Automation.
- New Presentation Project: Sometimes, presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote) can have issues with clickers on specific files. Try creating a new, blank presentation to test Cliqer's functionality.
- Contact Support: If problems continue, reach out to Cliqer support via their live chat.
With Cliqer installed for macOS, you might also need to install it on other systems, or you can proceed to using the application.
