macOS Installation

Follow these steps to get Cliqer up and running on your Mac:

1. Download Cliqer:
   • Go to the download page — it detects your Mac automatically and offers the right .pkg installer (Apple Silicon or Intel).
2. Run the Installer:
   • Open the downloaded .pkg file and follow the steps. The installer places Cliqer in your Applications folder for you — no drag-and-drop needed.
   • The installer and the app are signed and notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper opens them without security warnings.
3. First Run:
   • Launch Cliqer from your Applications folder (or Spotlight).
4. System Permissions: Ensure Cliqer has the necessary permissions to control your presentation software:
   • Click the Apple logo (top-left) > System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).
   • Navigate to Privacy & Security.
   • Under Accessibility: Find Cliqer in the list and enable it (toggle the switch ON). You may need to click the lock icon and enter your admin password to make changes.
   • Under Automation: Find Cliqer and ensure it (and System Events if listed under Cliqer) is enabled. This is crucial, especially for focused mode in PowerPoint.
   • For screen sharing, macOS will also ask for Screen Recording permission the first time you share a monitor.
5. (Optional) Restart:
   • If Cliqer doesn't seem to control your presentation software after installation and permission setup:
     • Quit Cliqer (Cmd+Q or right-click its Dock icon and select Quit).
     • Quit your presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint, Keynote).
     • Relaunch Cliqer and then your presentation software.

Updating

Cliqer checks for updates on launch and updates itself in place — you don't need to re-download the installer for new versions.

Troubleshooting macOS Installation

• Permissions Reset: If issues persist, especially with Automation or focused mode:
  1. Open Terminal (you can find it via Spotlight search).
  2. Type the command: tccutil reset All io.cliqer.app and press Enter.
  3. Quit and delete Cliqer from your Applications folder.
  4. Run the .pkg installer again.
  5. Run Cliqer, try to use it in focused mode (e.g., connect with your phone and press a button).
  6. Accept/Enable any system prompts related to Accessibility or Automation.
• New Presentation Project: Sometimes, presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote) can have issues with clickers on specific files. Try creating a new, blank presentation to test Cliqer's functionality.
• Contact Support: If problems continue, reach out to Cliqer support via their live chat.

With Cliqer installed for macOS, you might also need to install it on other systems, or you can proceed to using the application.
